Cytogenetic characteristics of wheat lines with modified rye-wheat translocation 1RS.1BL

Motsny I.I., Blagodarova E.M., Rybalka A.I.

SUMMARY. An increased frequency of male transmission rate (~ 90 %) of the modified translocation 1RS.1BL in competition with 1BL telocentric was found at heterozygous hybrids, resulting in the segregation ratios for Gli-B1 and Glu-B1 loci highly deviated from the expected. Distance between Glu-B1 locus and the centromere was 15,7–24,4 cM. With a frequency of 0,05 %, a «misdivision» product of the translocation 1RSm.1BL was observed. A significant decrease in the level of homologous chromosome pairing, causing aneuploidy, has been revealed in the wheat strain Pavon MA1 and a winter line with the translocation 1RSm.1BLal. The lines do not contain any reciprocal translocations with respect to the cultivar Kuyal’nik. The «hybrid desinapsis» was observed in F1 hybrids (Kuyal’nik × Pavon MA1) and was not observed in similar hybrids with the winter line. Moreover, any case of forming 21IIClosed was not observed among 693 PMCs studied that would indicate the pairing between the short arms of the translocation 1RSm.1BL and intact chromosome 1B.
