Plant vacuoles: physiological roles and mechanisms of vacoular sorting and vesicular trafficking

SUMMARY. In this review the main types of plant cell vacuoles were described. The structure, functions and other important characteristics were compared for the different vacuolar types. Moreover, the working models of vacuolar sorting and vesicular trafficking were outlined in this paper. The new important directions for further research of plant vacuoles were discussed.
