Hybridazation of T. urartu Thum. ex Gandil. with Secale cereale L.: Crossing, Morphological and Cytogenetic Characteristic of F1

SUMMARY. Six Tritlcum urartu Thum. ex Gandil. genotypes from the collection of the All-Union Institute of Plant Industry were crossed with seven rye cultivars. Seed setting which was estimated two weeks after pollination generally did not exceed 10%. The viability of hybrid embryos was low one. A hybrid plant being morphologically intermediate between parental forms was obtained from the embryo culture. It was meiotically analyzed. The haploid meiosis with rather low intensity of chromosome conjugation was typical of the hybrid. Bivalent associations were rare. The average frequency of chiasmas per a meiocyte amounted to 1.05. The hybrid remained dihaploid and sterile in spite of the colchicine treatment.
