From lysenkoism to genetics of developmental rates (75-years studies in the department of genetics of PB&GI)

Since the very beginning of the department of genetics organization director of the Institute (A.A. Sapegin) realized clearly the role of genetics for the progress of breeding programs. Subsequent period of lysenkoism was characterized by negation of classical genetics when direct inherited variation under variable environment was declared. Since the middle of sixtieth the revival of genetic studies started at the Institute. The trends and results of genetic investigations are described up to nowadays.
